Becoming Pagan
53
I was raised Catholic as a child. I did my holy communion and I was baptized. We never went to church on a regular bases and we were free to believe in what we wanted. I'm glad my mom wasn't stricked about that kind of stuff.
When I met Jason (who later became my husband) he really taught me about other religions. I really didn't know much about Paganism or being a Wiccan. I learned a little, but didn't really think I needed to changed my religion... That is until I met Linda and her family.
Jason had met them on facebook and Linda invited Jason and I to her house for a disscussion class about who we are and to meet new people. I didn't want to go at all, but Jason begged me and so I went. When we got there we all took a seat around their living room and met everyone else. I thought this family is not for me. I told Jason I wanted to leave and Jason told me that I needed to give them a chance. So I did and it was the best thing I ever did.
After meeting them a couple of more times I decided to join their Year In A Day Class: All About Paganism. I have learned so much about being Pagan and all the history behind it. It really made me think about life more openly. The class for me is every Friday and when I go we just don't talk about the whole becoming Pagan, we talk about ourselves and how to overcome fears and bad things that have happened. I've also met the most caring and most generious people ever. Linda and Shawn are like 2nd parents to me and their children are like brothers and sisters I never had. Linda told me that my 2nd year is almost coming and that my test is in Janurary. Once I pass the 155 question test I go into my 2nd year as a student and even though I am already part of the family I will be initated into their coven called "The Circle Of Coyote". I really want to go into my 3rd year and become a high priestess.
I never thought I would find my path in life and once I found these people its like I found my calling and its been nothing, but peacefullness and fun.

Hi and welcome to hub pages.
This is a very interesting hub about becoming pagan. It is obviously a very loving and caring group and take tuition in Wicca very seriously.
I have studied a few of the pagan traditions - especially the Celtic traditions of Scotland & Ireland, but also Wales and England. Although today my path is within the Kabbalah - and I do know that many Wiccans and other pagan traditions also use the Kabbalah for development- I do have many friends who are of the Pagan traditions and in particular Wicca.
Hopefully you will give us more hubs on your journey as I think many people would also find this interesting. It would also be good for people who perhaps feel that this is their spiritual path but are still unsure.
Very enjoyable hub, very interesting. Voted up.
I believe that all the paths lead to God; we are so different from each other that I cannot comprehend how they expect us to have only a religion for all. If paganism makes you a better person; then that is the path for you. Congratulations!
